Job summary

YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is seeking a Learn & Play Associate who is enthusiastic, compassionate, and patient to help children learn and grow through play and hands-on activities. You will lead and supervise activities, ensure safety, and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for all participants in youth programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred.
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum.
• Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities.
• Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child.
• Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment.
• Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children.
• Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.
• Supervise locker rooms and swim with children.
• Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports.
• Prepare snack or meals as assigned.
• May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program
