Job summary

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for an enthusiastic Learn & Play Associate whose passion is helping kids learn and grow through play and hands-on activities.

You will help prepare and implement a weekly curriculum, supervise participants during activities, maintain safety protocols, communicate with staff and parents, and participate in program operations including swim supervision and incident reporting, creating a welcoming, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred.
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum.
• Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities.
• Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and exercise sound judgment.
• Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children.
• Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents.
• Supervise locker rooms and swim with children.
• Complete routine forms (attendance, observations, incident/injury reports).
• Prepare snack or meals as assigned.
• May be required to work hours outside of normal schedule for trainings, extended program.
