Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Kids Play Team Member to provide a safe, welcoming space for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years and to lead engaging, age‑appropriate activities while supporting a development‑focused curriculum. You will supervise, model YMCA values, and build relationships with families, greeting them by name and sharing day‑to‑day updates.

The role emphasizes teamwork, calmness under pressure, and a commitment to inclusive, high‑quality childcare in a busy setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Spanish/English bilingual in some roles is a plus.
• Experience in childcare settings is advantageous.
• Experience with children aged 6 weeks to 12 years is preferred.
• First Aid, CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen certifications are preferred.
• Ability to stay calm and effective in high‑pressure moments.
• Growth mindset with willingness to learn and improve.
• Team player who supports a positive environment.
• Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
• Customer‑focused approach to member and family service.
• Commitment to fostering belonging for all children and families.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, age‑appropriate activities for children of all ages.
• Foster teamwork and cooperation through group games.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment.
• Build positive relationships with children and families by greeting them by name and sharing updates.
• Interact with children at their level and support healthy development.
• Ensure constant supervision and uphold health and safety standards.
• Maintain clean, organized childcare spaces during shifts.
• Keep parents informed about their child’s day and activities.
• Attend required staff meetings and follow safety procedures.
• Promote and model the YMCA’s mission, values, and wellness philosophy.
• Serve as an ambassador of the YMCA culture in every interaction.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
