Job summary

YMCA of the Rockies is seeking a Bennett Preschool Assistant Teacher to plan, organize, and supervise youth in varied indoor and outdoor activities, caring for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years under all weather conditions.

The role emphasizes safe, developmentally appropriate care, curriculum implementation, and strong teamwork, with adherence to YMCA policies and ACA guidelines, plus required trainings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with others and communicate to resolve issues.
• Must be fluent in English and able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must have current First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Practices safe, responsible care of children.
• Implements curriculum and programming for assigned group of children.
• Communicates core values and rules, and carries out positive behavior with children.
• Observe children's development with anecdotal notes, video, and photographs.
• Predict, prevent, identify and respond to safety issues for children in care.
• Uphold policies and procedures related to childcare licensing, YMCA policies, and ACA guidelines.
• Attend trainings and meetings.
• Assist in opening or closing the preschool as assigned.
• Participate in daily cleaning of program buildings as assigned.
• Work in other departments or program areas as assigned.
