Job summary

Northwest Youth Services is seeking a Housing Solutions Specialist in Bellingham, WA. The role serves as the primary housing navigation contact for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in Whatcom County, coordinating housing options, referrals, and ongoing case management.

Based at the Ground Floor center, the position requires regular travel within Whatcom County. Grounded in equity-centered practice, this role collaborates with internal teams and community partners to support safe,

Qualifications

• Six years of combined education and experience working with youth.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
• Background check clearance.
• Food Handler’s Certificate (if handling food) within 30 days of employment.
• Must have negative TB test.
• Understanding CPS mandatory reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Housing Intake, Assessment, and Navigation: identify youth needing support, assess needs and barriers, access housing options and programs, complete HMIS assessments and referrals, coordinate entry.
• Youth Housing Interest Pool Management: maintain waiting list, provide ongoing navigation, monitor status and documentation, participate in case conferences with internal and external partners.
• Data, Documentation, and Compliance: maintain records, secure document exchange, support data quality, participate in meetings and trainings, uphold NWYS values.
• Direct service: on-site presence at Ground Floor center with required travel across Whatcom County.
