Job summary

Sasha Bruce Youthwork is seeking a Housing Navigation Specialist to help homeless and at‑risk youth identify safe, affordable housing in DC and surrounding areas. You will cultivate relationships with landlords, assess barriers to housing, assist with applications, and coordinate move‑in steps and supports to promote stability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field, or 3+ years working with at‑risk youth, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of experience working with at‑risk youth.
  • Knowledge of housing subsidies, rules, regulations, and affordable housing industry; specifically in DC housing.
  • Familiarity with social services and support agencies in the District as it relates to housing.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are required; and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a housing goal with clients and address barriers to housing.
  • Build relationships with community agencies, landlords, and brokers to identify housing options.
  • Assist clients in housing applications, inspections, and lease understanding.
  • Coordinate move‑in steps, utilities, and furniture needs as part of housing transition.
  • Create life skills workshops on housing topics and tenant rights.
