Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Youth & Family Coordinator to bring energy to youth sports, camps, enrichment programs, and family events. You will work across program areas to create fun, welcoming experiences for children and families.

You will coordinate activities, assist with schedules and registrations, ensure safety and inclusivity, and model the YMCA's mission and values. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families in program settings.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and schedules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of youth development and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Youth & Family programs, activities, and events.
• Provide day-to-day operational support based on departmental priorities, seasonal needs, and center needs.
• Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants and families by answering questions, sharing information, and helping resolve routine concerns.
• Assist with schedules, registrations, rosters, participant communication, supplies, equipment, space preparation, and other program logistics.
• Help lead and monitor activities to ensure experiences are safe, engaging, inclusive, age-appropriate, and aligned with YMCA standards.
• Support participant supervision, transitions, and engagement while maintaining appropriate staff-to-participant practices and program expectations.
• Build positive working relationships with participants, families, staff, volunteers, members, and community partners.
• Assist with coordinating and supporting staff and volunteers to promote consistent program delivery and a positive team environment.
• Maintain accurate program records and provide routine updates related to participation, incidents, supplies, schedules, and operational needs.
• Follow established safety, supervision, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures and administer first aid within the scope of training when needed.
• Set up, take down, and organize program spaces, equipment, and supplies while maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments.
• Identify day-to-day program needs and communicate challenges, opportunities, and recommended solutions to the appropriate leader.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, program planning, and continuous-improvement efforts across the Youth & Family department.
• Model excellent customer service by leading with empathy, listening actively, and fostering positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and guests.
• Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
• Become an ambassador of the Y's work and culture by sharing who we are as an organization and brand.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
