Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Youth & Family Coordinator to bring energy to our youth programs, camps, and family activities in the Austin area. You will support planning, logistics, and day-to-day operations to create memorable experiences for children and families.

The role focuses on welcoming participants, coordinating schedules, supervising activities, and building strong relationships with families and community partners while upholding YMCA standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in youth development or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children, families, or community members in program settings.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and maintain records.
• Ability to lead activities and create welcoming, inclusive experiences for youth and families.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills to engage participants and partners.
• Knowledge of youth development, safety, and supervision practices; willingness to learn YMCA standards.
• Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, coordination, and delivery of Youth & Family programs, activities, and events.
• Provide day-to-day operational support based on departmental priorities and seasonal needs.
• Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants and families; address questions and concerns.
• Assist with schedules, registrations, rosters, communications, and program logistics.
• Help lead activities to ensure safe, engaging, inclusive, age-appropriate experiences.
• Support supervision and engagement while maintaining appropriate staff-to-participant ratios.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, staff, volunteers, and partners.
• Coordinate and support staff and volunteers to ensure consistent program delivery.
• Maintain accurate program records and provide routine updates on participation and needs.
• Follow safety, supervision, and incident-reporting procedures; administer first aid when needed.
