Description

With a 150-year-old history, Greater Somerset County YMCA (GSCY) operates seven locations across three counties, serving over 30,000 individuals. GSCY employs 100 full-time and 950 part-time staff, with operating revenues exceeding $22 million.

We currently have an exciting career opportunity at our Somerville/Bridgewater branch for a Youth & Family Director. Under the guidance of the Branch Executive Director, this role involves promoting, developing, and managing youth activities including School Age Child Care, Summer Camp, Arts & Humanities programs.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

• Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and educational youth programs aligned with YMCA's Core Values.
• Hire, train, coach, and support staff.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, and prospective members.
• Maintain compliance with licensing guidelines and safety standards.
• Implement innovative strategies for program growth.

Youth Enrichment: Arts & Humanities

• Develop and execute youth enrichment programs like STEAM, Visual & Performing Arts, ACHIEVERS, and Youth & Government.
• Coordinate registrations and prepare lesson plans.
• Promote progressive programming and communicate updates via email, newsletters, and social media.
• Maintain class schedules and equipment.

Licensed Child Care Programs: SACC, Camp

• Fulfill licensing requirements and manage all licensed childcare programs.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
• Monitor budgets, fees, and compliance with regulations.
• Establish relationships with licensing agencies, schools, and community organizations.
• Maintain proper records and participate in quality team meetings.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Use of computer and communication devices; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; ability to supervise children safely.

Qualifications

• Degree related to children or business, or Bachelor’s in Education, Psychology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in youth program coordination, preferably in childcare settings.
• Leadership skills, staff supervision, and administrative proficiency.
• Knowledge of ADA, Daxko systems, and compliance standards.
• Flexibility for early mornings/evenings; certifications like YMCA Team Leader preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
