Job summary

Gulf Coast JFCS is seeking a Youth Engagement Coach to provide in-person crisis response and ongoing support to adults, youth and families involved with the justice system. You will assess risk, link clients to services, and coordinate care with community providers in order to reduce recidivism and support wrap-around services.

The role involves responding to 911 calls, assisting with referrals, and transporting clients to appointments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a human services or related field.
• Previous experience in youth-related services, crisis intervention, mental health, or substance abuse preferred.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment under challenging client situations.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and EHR.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must obtain/maintain CPR and First-Aid certifications.
• Ability to use personal car to transport clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person response to active 911 calls with adults, youth and families and their support network.
• Assess client’s level of risk to self, others, and their ability to care for themselves.
• Provide information, referral and follow-up for counseling, psychiatric, financial, employment, housing, and other services.
• Respond to referrals and link clients to appropriate services as needed.
• Coordinate with clients and community providers to ensure needs are met.
• Transport clients to hospitals, shelters, appointments and other settings.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
