Gulf Coast JFCS in Tampa is seeking a part-time Youth Counselor to support children and families. You will transport and supervise youth to and from school and program sites, and provide a positive mentoring presence during office hours and in the community.

You will use de-escalation techniques to help stabilize youth in crisis, document services in a timely manner, maintain confidentiality, and assist with on-call duties.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year working with children or families preferred.
• Knowledge of child development preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license with auto insurance coverage.

Mansioni

• Provide transportation and supervision of children to/from school, office, foster and/or group homes, and other locations in the community.
• Provide supervision to youth at the office, during transport, or in other community locations, as required.
• Provide, strengthen, and maintain a positive mentoring role by developing rapport with youth under supervision.
• Utilize de-escalation and intervention techniques to assist in stabilizing youth in crisis.
• Assist other program staff and intervene in crisis situations as necessary.
• Attempt to create, strengthen, and maintain positive, supportive working relationships between youth, caregivers, and other professionals involved in serving the youth.
• Provide completed documentation for services rendered within the required timeframes to case management program staff.
• Assist with on-call when necessary in accordance with agency policy and program procedure.
• Maintain client confidentiality according to established policies, federal and state statutes, by obtaining needed releases of information.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
