Job summary

Cass County Public Library in Missouri seeks a Youth Specialist to develop programs for children, teens and families and to promote youth services across the branch. This is a part-time, non-exempt role with a flexible schedule and up to 950 hours per year.

The position requires creativity, strong communication, and the ability to engage effectively with youth and families; the team supports outreach, displays, and community partnerships to foster literacy and curiosity.

Qualifications

• Education, library, or youth services experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills.
• Ability to work independently and engage effectively with youth and families.
• Experience with library technology and design software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement programs for children, teens, and families.
• Create displays and promote youth collections and services.
• Support outreach efforts and seasonal reading initiatives.
• Prepare materials to market youth programs and activities.
• Assist patrons with library resources, reference, and readers’ advisory.
• Support circulation services and shelving duties; participate in youth department meetings.
