Job summary

Global Kids is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist for PS 21 in Brooklyn, NY. The role focuses on attendance support, family engagement, and school partnerships to create positive experiences for school-age youth.

This is a full-time position at a New York City public school site. Successful candidates will have experience with NYC public schools and a Bachelor's degree, and will contribute to attendance initiatives, program development, and collaboration with families and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in liberal arts or related field.
• 2+ years experience with high school youth.
• Experience with NYC public schools and NYC Community Schools Initiative.
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging workshops.
• Commitment to diversity and antiracist practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead attendance improvement strategies by attending school meetings and tracking metrics.
• Support positive school climate focusing on safety and community.
• Collect and review attendance, evaluation, and progress data.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate interactive GK workshops and programs.
• Communicate regularly with students, families, teachers, and partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with parents and community members.
• Generate new program ideas aligned with contracted initiatives.
• Create content and curriculum on global issues and 21st-century skills.
• Occasionally participate in overnight and travel events.
