Job summary

Global Kids in New York City is hiring a Youth Engagement Specialist to support attendance initiatives, youth development, and family outreach within public schools.

The role requires experience with high school youth, strong communication, writing, administrative and tech skills, and occasional travel to support GK's programs; this full-time position offers a $51,000–$60,000 annual salary plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in liberal arts preferred.
• 2+ years experience working with high school youth.
• Knowledge of NYC social services resources for youth and families.
• Experience with NYC public schools and Community Schools Initiative.
• Experience using interactive learning strategies and youth development/leadership.
• Strong communication, writing, administrative, organizational, and technology skills.
• Fluency in other languages, particularly Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Lead attendance improvement strategies by attending school meetings, developing metrics, monitoring progress, and analyzing attendance challenges.
• Promote a positive school climate emphasizing safety, community, and positivity.
• Collect, input, and review attendance, evaluation, and other data related to projects and student progress.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate interactive workshops and GK enrichment programs with staff and youth.
• Communicate regularly with students, families, teachers, and community partners about events, programs, and services.
• Support ongoing asset and needs assessments of the school community and develop relationships with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with GK staff and youth to generate new program ideas focused on global/local issues.
• Develop relevant content and curricula on global issues and 21st-century skills, supporting social and emotional learning.
• Occasionally travel for overnight and long-distance youth events.
