Job summary

Global Kids, Inc. seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist for PS 21 in Brooklyn to support attendance improvement, youth development, and family engagement within a NYC public school setting.

This full-time role focuses on building school partnerships, supporting SEL initiatives, and delivering interactive workshops. You will collaborate with GK staff to create engaging programs, track attendance data, communicate with students, families, and teachers, and help plan events and field trips, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in liberal arts preferred.
• 2+ years of experience working with high school youth.
• Experience with NYC public schools and NYC Community Schools Initiative.
• Experience using interactive learning strategies and youth development approaches.
• Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills.
• Spanish language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in supporting attendance improvement strategies by attending school meetings, developing metrics, monitoring progress, and analyzing attendance challenges.
• Support and promote a positive school climate emphasizing safety, community, and positivity.
• Collect and review attendance, evaluation, and program data.
• Collaborate with staff and students to implement GK's special projects.
• Communicate regularly with students, families, teachers, and community partners about events and services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with parents and community stakeholders.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate workshops and activities for GK's programs.
• Collaborate on new program ideas addressing global/local issues and contracted initiatives.
• Develop content and curricula on global issues and 21st-century skills with SEL focus.
• Occasionally participate in overnight and long-distance travel.
