Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Youth Development Officer to help empower youth aged 18-35 in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on designing and delivering skills training to improve employability and personal growth, with a hybrid work setup and a contract arrangement.

You will connect youth to opportunities, foster development, and contribute to positive social change, using strong facilitation, organizational, and communication skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Qualification in social sciences, education, or related field.
• Experience facilitating training sessions or workshops with young adults.
• Demonstrated understanding of youth development principles and challenges.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Knowledge of the local labour market and opportunities in Welkom is advantageous.
• Commitment to empowering marginalized youth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver skills training workshops (e.g., CV writing, interview skills, basic computer literacy, entrepreneurship).
• Identify training needs and tailor programs for Welkom youth.
• Facilitate mentorship programs connecting youth with industry professionals.
• Assist participants in identifying career pathways and job opportunities.
• Monitor participant progress and provide ongoing support and guidance.
• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses for placement opportunities.
• Organize community outreach events to promote youth development programs.
• Maintain accurate records of participant engagement, training outcomes and feedback.
• Contribute to program evaluation and reporting to stakeholders.
• Stay informed about trends and best practices in youth development and skills training.
