Job summary

Placements24 invites applications for a Community Development Facilitator to empower communities in Welkom and surrounding areas in the Free State region. The role focuses on participatory planning, capacity building, and sustainable development through local leadership and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring facilitation expertise, strong communication, and a commitment to empowerment.

Qualifications

Experience in community development, facilitation, or participatory action research.
Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with diverse groups and build trust.
Diploma or certificate in Community Development, Social Work, or related field.

Responsibilities

Facilitate participatory planning and decision-making with community members in Welkom.
Identify community needs, assets and priorities through consultation and research.
Support formation of community structures and local leadership.
Assist in developing and implementing small-scale development projects.
Mobilize community members and local resources for project implementation.
Provide training and capacity-building to community groups and individuals.
Monitor project progress and provide feedback to the community and Our client.
Liaise with local government authorities, NGOs, and stakeholders in the Free State.
Promote social cohesion and conflict resolution within the community.
Document community activities, achievements, and lessons learned.
