The Role - Youth Development Specialist

The Youth Development Specialist will oversee and lead troop sessions with girls in grades K-12 during virtual, day, and after-school programs. The role involves visiting program sites in Chicago.

This is a full-time hourly role, benefits-eligible, with overtime pay. Travel is required.

Required Hours
  • Monday through Friday (30-37.5 hours per week)
  • Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing a safe, engaging environment for programming
  • Delivering programs related to STEAM, Financial Literacy, and Life Skills in an engaging, structured manner
  • Using trauma-informed and SEL tools to support girls' emotional needs
  • Collaborating with program volunteers and maintaining responsibility for program effectiveness
  • Attending community events, trainings, and meetings
  • Maintaining records for each site (attendance, troop, and girl information)
  • Building community collaborations and relationships with school and park personnel
  • Adhering to policies and modeling expected behaviors
  • Supporting membership growth goals
  • Completing brief written reflections on program impact
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; experience in education, psychology, youth development, or program delivery preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • 1-3 years of experience in youth program facilitation and compliance with grant requirements
  • Experience working with youth in out-of-school or classroom settings
  • Highly organized with multitasking ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Compensation: $24.36/hr
