Qualifications

The Role - Youth Development Specialist

The Youth Development Specialist will oversee and lead troop sessions with girls in grades K-12 during virtual, day, and after-school programs. The role involves visiting program sites in Chicago.

This is a full-time, hourly position that offers benefits and overtime eligibility. Travel is required for this role.

Required Hours
  • Monday through Friday (30-37.5 hours per week)
  • Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights
Responsibilities
  • Create a safe and engaging environment for programming
  • Deliver programs related to STEAM, Financial Literacy, and Life Skills in an engaging, structured manner
  • Use trauma-informed approaches and SEL tools to support girls' emotional needs
  • Collaborate with program volunteers while maintaining responsibility for program effectiveness
  • Attend community events, trainings, and meetings
  • Maintain records of attendance and girl information following Girl Scouts procedures
  • Build community partnerships with schools and parks in collaboration with your manager
  • Adhere to policies and model expected behaviors
  • Support team efforts to achieve membership goals
  • Complete brief reports on program impact
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; experience in education, psychology, youth development, or program delivery preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • 1-3 years of experience in youth program facilitation and compliance with grant requirements
  • Experience in out-of-school or classroom youth development settings
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
