Job summary

Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland is seeking a Juvenile Program Worker-Cook to support justice-involved youth in a secure, 24/7 facility. The role combines direct supervision with pro-social coaching for residents up to 21 years old.

You'll help prepare and serve meals, supervise living areas, teach kitchen sanitation, and cover additional JPW duties as needed. A compassionate, trauma-informed approach is essential to help youth progress on a better path.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• HS Diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED, etc.).
• Valid driver's license; Maine driver's license upon hire.
• No serious criminal or extensive motor vehicle records.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, role model, and support positive pro-social change in youth.
• Ensure safe, secure environment for adjudicated and detained youth.
• De-escalate conflicts using crisis techniques.
• Supervise, guide, and motivate residents for safety.
• Transport residents to court, appointments, and activities.
• Maintain logs and reports to support rehabilitation.
