Job summary

Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland, ME is seeking a Juvenile Program Worker - Cook to help prepare and serve approximately 180 meals per day and to support kitchen operations under the supervision of the Correctional Cook Supervisor.

You will monitor security, train residents in kitchen sanitation, and cover unit duties when needed, blending youth corrections with a pro-social, coaching approach.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age or older.
• HS Diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED, etc.).
• Valid driver's license; Maine license upon hire may be required.

Responsibilities

• Be a mentor and role model for juvenile residents.
• Provide a safe, secure environment for adjudicated youths.
• Assist residents in meeting behavioral expectations and program rules.
• Communicate effectively and de-escalate conflicts.
• Supervise, guide, and motivate residents to maintain safety.
• Perform searches of living quarters to prevent contraband.
