Job summary

Hoyleton Youth & Family Services is seeking a Youth Care Worker-Residential Cook to prepare meals for cottages and support youth with daily therapeutic activities. You will help staff supervise residents, document interactions, and follow CARE and TCI practices to foster growth in a safe environment.

The role includes planning meals, ensuring proper food storage, and participating in supervision and training.

Qualifications

• Possess or obtain within 90 days a Food Service Sanitation Certification (IDPH).
• Basic first aid and medical needs awareness.
• Learn CARE daily programming and implement it.
• Learn and pass TCI tests and renewals with fidelity.
• Complete CARE and TCI training upon hire; ongoing refreshers.
• Remain alert during shifts to ensure client safety.
• Engage youth with empathy and build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prepares nutritious meals and snacks per menus meeting health standards.
• Plans and orders food and supplies for meals, including weekend menus.
• Prepares special meals for holidays and events.
• Maintains proper food storage and sanitation per regulations.
• Oversees cottage residents to develop cooking/cleaning skills and responds to behavior issues.
• Maintains accurate records per agency and regulatory requirements.
• Documents Medicaid-compliant therapeutic interventions daily.
• Engages youth in daily therapeutic activities and skill-building.
