The City of Norfolk, VA is seeking an administrative support professional to assist a variety of division operations in Youth Development. This role includes recruiting onboarding, coordinating meetings, and supporting program initiatives.
Ideal candidates will have at least two years of administrative experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with confidentiality and clear communication. Evening or weekend hours may be required.

Under general supervision, performs administrative, operational and customer service work in support of the Division of Youth Development operations. The incumbent will coordinate a variety of administrative functions, assist with recruitment and onboarding activities, coordinate communication, assist with meetings and special events, and provide support the departmental programs and initiatives.
Work requires knowledge of administrative and office procedures. The preferred candidate will possess at least two (2) years of administrative support or related experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other office/administrative software. Ability to maintain confidential information, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, establish effective working relationships, and manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre‑tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre‑tax payroll deduction.
