Job summary

YMCA of Southern Arizona in Tucson is seeking a Learn & Play Specialist to support safe, engaging activities for children, align with YMCA values, and assist with program planning and supervision.

The role requires at least 6 months of child care experience, a current fingerprint clearance card, CPR/First Aid/AED certifications (or plan to complete within 30 days), and availability Monday through Saturday. Training and ADA awareness are emphasized in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications or completion within 30 days of hire.
• High school degree or GED.
• At least six months of experience working with multiple children in a recreational setting.
• CDA, NAC, CCP, Associates or Bachelor's in Early Education preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations and/or building positive relationships.
• ADA awareness and compliance understood.
• Availability Monday through Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Implement program activities that are culturally relevant and appropriate.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming encouraging achievement and belonging.
• Engage children during all activities and follow procedures and standards.
• Cultivate relationships and communicate with parents.
• Engage parents and volunteers to connect them to the YMCA.
• Maintain program site and equipment to be hazard-free and organized.
• Maintain required program records and inventory of materials.
• Attend and participate in activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Ensure safety and well‑being by following abuse reporting requirements and ADA guidelines.
• Adhere to Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines.
• Obtain at least eighteen hours of training annually in childcare.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
