Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after-school and day camp programs. You will foster a safe, engaging environment where youth feel valued and supported, while building strong relationships with families and staff.

Responsibilities include leading activities, ensuring safety, modeling YMCA values, and collaborating with school partners to provide high‑quality programs. Part‑time schedule and on‑site work at multiple locations are typical.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting
• High school diploma or GED
• Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED and background checks

Responsibilities

• Lead before/after-school and day camp programs with energy, creativity, and compassion.
• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported, valued, and excited to learn.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations using YMCA policies.
• Lead activities and adapt to meet diverse needs and interests of every child.
• Model YMCA values—honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith—in daily work.
• Maintain a clean, organized program space that meets standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
