Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Youth Development Leader to energize before/after-school and day camp programs, fostering a safe, engaging environment where youth feel valued and motivated to learn. You’ll lead activities, support families, and collaborate with staff to uphold YMCA standards.

You’ll be responsible for supervising activities, ensuring safety, and delivering age-appropriate, inclusive programming that supports social and emotional development across diverse groups.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Six months of youth experience in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting
• CPR/First Aid/AED training or willingness to obtain
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities
• Experience with diverse populations
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting
• TB test and required immunizations per guidelines

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, enriching environment in after-school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and follow YMCA policies.
• Lead activities using YMCA curriculum and adapt for diverse needs.
• Model values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Maintain clean, safe program spaces meeting standards.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
