Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader dedicated to inspiring children and fostering a positive environment. This role focuses on providing a safe, engaging experience in before/after-school and day camp programs.

As a leader, you will champion the safety of children, guide positive behavior, and deliver engaging activities. Ideal candidates should have experience with youth and a high school diploma. Join us to make a meaningful impact in children's lives while building strong community relationships.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Bring the YMCA curriculum to life through fun activities.
• Demonstrate YMCA values in all interactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
• Connect with children, families, and staff to create a collaborative community.
• Follow child-protection policies and ensure supervision.
