Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader to support before/after-school and day camp programs in our community. You’ll help create a safe, engaging environment where youth feel valued and encouraged to learn, play, and grow under supervision and guidance.

This part-time role emphasizes energy, creativity, and compassion, with opportunities to build relationships with families, staff, and local schools while upholding YMCA safety policies and state licensing standards.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment through positive behavior strategies.
• Lead activities through games, projects, and hands-on learning.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe space.
