Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring for Youth Development Leaders in Katy, TX. This part-time role supports before/after school programs and day camps, fostering a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth while building strong relationships with families and staff.

Base pay is $13.00 per hour, with a temporary $3.00 per hour stipend for eligible locations. Schedule varies; typical shifts align with ISD calendars and may include Saturdays.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age‑appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times; monitor activities and conduct headcounts.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands‑on learning aligned with the YMCA curriculum.
• Model YMCA values such as honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space meeting standards.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and teammates.
• Follow child-protection policies and supervision procedures.
