Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader to support before/after school and day camp programs. You’ll create a safe, fun environment, build relationships with children, families, and staff, and bring energy, creativity, and compassion to every activity.

This part-time role offers a base pay of $13.00 per hour, plus a temporary $3.00 per hour stipend for eligible locations. Schedule varies by program, with opportunities for professional development and leadership growth

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months of youth experience in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Passed state/local background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times.
• Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and learning activities aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Model honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, safe program space.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Follow child-protection policies and supervision procedures.
