Job summary

Nationwide Childrens Hospital Inc is seeking a Mental Health Specialist I for the Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit on the day shift at the Main Campus in Columbus, OH. The role is 0.6 FTE (24 hours/week) and includes every-other-weekend coverage.

Provides basic supportive, trauma-informed care under supervision and participates with the care team. You will support patients and families, establish therapeutic relationships, de-escalate when needed, and help develop treatment plans in

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in and completing half of a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program, or equivalent experience.
• One year of hospital experience in a mental health role within the past three years, or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

• Participates with the interdisciplinary team in specialized patient care and handles assigned patient care tasks.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication and education.
• Provides trauma-informed care with de-escalation and safety measures; supports staff and patient safety.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans and acts as a resource on diagnoses and crisis management.
