Nationwide Children's Hospital Inc. in Columbus, OH is seeking a Mental Health Specialist I for the Neurobehavior Unit on the evening shift.

This part-time role (0.8 FTE, 32 hours/week) requires working 3:00pm–11:30pm with every other Saturday and Sunday. You will provide trauma-informed care under supervision, support interdisciplinary care teams, assist with treatment plans, and help de-escalate crises while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current enrollment in and completion of half a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program, or equivalent experience, is required.
• BLS, TCI, and First Aid certifications are required or in progress within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Participates with the interdisciplinary team in specialized patient care.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Provides trauma-informed care and uses de-escalation techniques to maintain safety.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
• Acts as a resource to unit staff regarding diagnoses and crisis management.
