Job summary

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres is seeking a Youth Counselor to support youth experiencing mental health crises in our crisis settings. You will implement interventions from therapeutic plans, assist with daily activities and community outings, and help manage behaviors to promote safety and growth.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, teamwork, accurate documentation, and collaboration with families and staff. Evening/overnight shifts and a retention bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with youth in a residential, shelter or crisis program.
• Pass DHS background check and maintain qualified status.
• Must meet physical job demands.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance as required by state law.
• TCI training completed with 70%+ within two months.
• Medication Administration training with 80%+.

Responsibilities

• Engage with daily client activities and manage behavior per the individual plan.
• Approach interactions with trauma-informed care.
• Maintain open communication with coworkers and support a healthy work environment.
• Attend team and client meetings.
• Demonstrate respect for all people regardless of background.
• Ensure client safety by applying prescribed interventions.
• Take clients into the community and model safe social skills.
• Maintain boundaries and a clean, safe home on shift.
• Collaborate with supports (family, guardians, staff) to foster healthy relationships.
• Identify triggers and support coping strategies for stabilization.
• Lead and teach DBT groups on shift.
• Participate in recreation and all home events.
• Document on shift according to CSSP and policies.
