Job summary

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres is seeking a Youth Counselor to support youth experiencing mental health crises in community settings, avoiding hospitalization where possible. You will implement interventions from therapeutic support plans and assist with daily tasks, activities, and community outings, while maintaining safety and boundaries per CSSP guidelines.

Shifts are 7 on/7 off, 10pm–8am, with $25.00 per hour, weekend/overnight differentials, and a $1,500 retention bonus for full-time staff

Qualifications

• 21 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with youth in a residential, shelter or crisis program.
• Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain 'qualified' status.
• Must be able to successfully meet company’s physical job demands.
• If using your own vehicle for company business, you must have a driver’s license and insurance as required by state law.
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training completed with 70% or greater within two months of employment.
• Medication Administration class completed with 80% or greater.
• Demonstrates mastery of basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage with client daily activities and manage behavior according to the client’s plan.
• Approach all interactions from a trauma-informed care perspective.
• Maintain open communication with coworkers and support team.
• Attend team and client meetings.
• Demonstrate respect toward all people regardless of background.
• Ensure client safety by implementing behavior interventions as described in the plan.
• Take clients into the community and model safe social skills.
• Maintain boundaries with clients at all times.
• Keep the home clean and safe per policies.
• Collaborate with supports (family, guardians, workers) to foster communication.
• Help clients identify triggers and coping strategies for stabilization.
• Lead and teach DBT groups on shift to youth.
• Participate in recreation and events; document as required.
• Work harmoniously with internal and external individuals.
