Koinonia Family Services is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Youth Counselor in its Koinonia Connections Emergency Placement Program in Rocklin, CA. The program provides short-term care for youth ages 6 to 17 with challenging behaviors, who are placed due to trauma until a more appropriate, long-term placement can be arranged.

Qualifications:
Coursework or training in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field (preferred)
Two years of experience working with children or youth in a residential treatment or group home setting (preferred)
Compassionate and empathetic nature with strong personal and professional boundaries
Passion for supporting at-risk youth who have experienced trauma
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to remain calm and de-escalate challenging behaviors (training provided)
Dependable and reliable work ethic
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
High degree of integrity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. Youth Counselors must be able to safely and reliably transport youth to medical appointments, therapy sessions, educational activities, and other essential services that support their overall well-being. In addition, Youth Counselors must be prepared to respond to crisis situations by providing immediate transportation to ensure the safety and security of the youth, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods. The nature of these responsibilities necessitates the ability to drive to ensure timely, reliable, confidential and effective support for the youth and families we serve.
