Job summary

New Settlement in the Bronx seeks a Content Specialist to support a school-based after-school program funded by DYCD. The role focuses on activity design and instructional support under the Program Director, with emphasis on academic support, leadership development, STEAM, literacy, healthy living, life skills, and physical activity.

You will create lesson plans, develop materials, identify at-risk students, and collaborate with school staff to align activities with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
• Minimum of three years working with youth (elem. or middle school age).
• Minimum of one year supervising staff.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and design age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with DYCD/NYCPS standards.
• Develop instructional materials to improve comprehension and retention.
• Identify struggling participants and provide individualized support.
• Collaborate with leadership to align activities with academic expectations.
• Provide coaching on classroom management and professional development.
• Use curriculum tools to support learning plans and maintain documentation.
• Foster motivation and positive attitudes toward learning.
• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants.
• Maintain a strength-based, youth-focused environment.
• Maintain attendance, behavior, and incident reports; communicate with guardians.
• Comply with DYCD, New Settlement, and DOH standards; perform other duties.
