St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is hiring a Youth Care Worker for our onsite residential program in St. Augustine, FL. You will provide direct care, supervision, and mentoring to youth, support daily living activities, transportation, meals, and safety within a therapeutic setting.

You'll work as part of a treatment team, maintain professional boundaries, document care activities, and participate in trainings to ensure quality care for youth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience with youth in mental health or behavioral health, preferably residential; OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and background screening clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, care, and support to youth in a residential setting.
  • Transport youth to school, medical appointments, activities, and other destinations.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and homelike environment per treatment plans.
  • Document medication administration and care activities as required.
  • Attend staff and treatment team meetings and complete onboarding/training.

Position: Youth Care WorkerLocation: Onsite – St. Augustine, FLSchedule: Thurs - MonEmployment Type: Full timePay: 15 hourImportant: This is an onsite residential position and requires direct interaction with youth, including assisting with daily living activities, transportation, crisis situations, meals, housekeeping, and other residential responsibilities.St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is seeking dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Youth Care Workers to join our residential team. Youth Care Workers provide direct care, supervision, structure, mentoring, and support to youth in a therapeutic residential setting.This is a hands-on position for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while working as part of a supportive treatment team.What You'll DoProvide direct supervision, care, and support to youth in a residential setting.Serve as a positive role model and mentor, helping youth develop appropriate behaviors, life skills, and independence.Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment consistent with each child's individual treatment plan.Build positive relationships with youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.Provide crisis intervention and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional situations.Use approved physical intervention/restraint techniques when necessary to prevent a child from harming themselves or others.Lead or participate in recreational activities, group discussions, and other constructive activities.Transport youth to school, medical appointments, activities, and other destinations as required.Assist with new admissions, referral interviews, and intake activities as needed.Monitor and document medication administration/consumption in accordance with organizational policies and applicable requirements.Assist youth with personal hygiene, clothing, meals, and other daily living needs.Purchase food, plan menus, and prepare meals for the residential program.Perform routine housekeeping and laundry duties to help maintain a clean, safe, and homelike environment.Complete required documentation, logs, incident reports, and other records accurately and on time.Attend staff meetings and treatment team meetings as required.Complete all required onboarding and annual training.Identify and report facility or grounds maintenance and safety concerns.Follow all SAYS policies, procedures, safety requirements, and treatment practices.Assist with agency activities and fundraising events as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.What We're Looking ForMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED.Two years of experience working with youth with mental health or behavioral health needs, preferably in a residential setting; ORBachelor's degree in a related mental health field.Valid driver's license.Must meet applicable background screening requirements and have a history free of offenses that would prevent employment under the Affidavit of Good Moral Character requirements.The Right Person for This JobWe're looking for someone who:Is dependable and understands the importance of consistency in residential care.Can remain calm and professional during challenging situations.Enjoys working with children and young people.Can establish appropriate relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.Understands the importance of structure, consistency, and accountability.Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.Can model appropriate behavior and professionalism for youth.Is willing to help with the everyday responsibilities of a home—including meals, laundry, housekeeping, transportation, and activities.Wants to create an environment where youth feel safe, supported, respected, and at home.Why This Work MattersYouth Care Workers are among the people who have the most direct day-to-day contact with the young people we serve.
