The Northgate site of the Seattle YMCA seeks a Direct Care Staff member to supervise youths 16–18 in a new Adolescent Transitional Living Program, in partnership with DCYF. The role focuses on daily supervision, developmentally appropriate activities, and trauma-informed approaches to prepare for independent housing.

Position is on site at the Northgate housing location. The Social Impact Center Y serves thousands yearly, offering housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, and education

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of experience working with teens or young adults in relevant fields.
• Must be 21 years of age (with internship exception).
• Ability to teach effective independence skills for a variety of learning styles.
• Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to transport self and client(s) with valid vehicle insurance or travel to community locations.
• Current state approved First Aid and CPR certification.
• Current HIV blood borne pathogens training.

• Provide trauma-informed, relationship-based supervision for children, youth, and young adults in these programs.
• Coordinate with the director and case managers to support individualized, developmentally appropriate service plans.
• Complete organizational and administrative program tasks.
• Participate in supervision sessions and work with colleagues to ensure quality care.
• Maintain a safe, respectful living environment for residents.
• Demonstrate de-escalation skills and preventative behavior management.
• Build therapeutic relationships with residents and support group milieu.
• Promote engagement across education, health, and community domains.
• Support daily routines, meals, chores, and medication management.
• Oversee safety and cleanliness; submit maintenance requests as needed.
• Accompany residents to appointments and community outings.
• Document logs and notes in designated databases.
• Collaborate with staff and community partners to plan activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
