Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is hiring a Childcare Worker to provide safe, caring supervision of children during Mass, parish programs, and activities. You will create a welcoming space, offer age-appropriate activities, and follow parish policies on child safety.

Responsibilities include supervising children, assisting with crafts and games, managing check-in/check-out, and maintaining a clean, organized environment while upholding confidentiality and Catholic values.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; childcare experience may be considered.
• Experience: Previous childcare or related church/community work preferred.
• Skills: Patient, caring, and able to interact positively with children.
• Healthy, safe environment awareness and ability to follow parish procedures.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and keep them safe, engaged, and monitored.
• Assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, stories, play, and activities.
• Help meet children's basic needs in a caring manner while following parish procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized childcare space before and after sessions.
• Encourage positive behavior and assist with classroom expectations.
• Follow parish and diocesan safety, health, and child protection procedures.
• Help greet parents/guardians and assist with check-in/check-out procedures.
• Immediately report injuries or incidents to the designated staff member.
• Work with parish staff, volunteers, clergy, parents, and guardians to provide quality care.
• Respect confidentiality and maintain the Catholic environment.
