Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Aftercare Aide to provide a safe, welcoming environment for elementary students in the school’s aftercare program.

You will supervise students, support homework time, and help with snacks and transitions, all while reflecting Catholic values. You will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure activities are age-appropriate and engaging, maintain calm routines, and model positive behavior.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Ability to provide patient, attentive, and responsible supervision.
• Friendly, dependable, and positive attitude.
• Ability to engage children in age-appropriate activities while maintaining boundaries.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision of elementary students throughout the aftercare program.
• Maintain a safe, caring, and respectful environment consistent with Catholic school values.
• Monitor student behavior and encourage cooperation, kindness, respect, and appropriate social interactions.
• Lead and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and other enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework, reading, and other quiet activities as needed.
• Supervise snack time and help students follow appropriate cleanliness and safety procedures.
• Assist with student transitions, including arrival, activities, snack, outdoor/indoor play, and dismissal.
• Follow procedures for releasing students to authorized guardians or designated individuals.
• Maintain awareness of student needs and communicate concerns to staff.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly aftercare environment.
• Follow school safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures.
• Serve as a positive role model and support Catholic identity and mission.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
