Job summary

CMHA-CEI seeks a Youth Peer Support Specialist to assist youth with serious emotional disturbance by providing personalized support within their homes, schools and community settings.

You will collaborate with families and treatment teams to promote engagement, empowerment, and progress toward treatment goals, while maintaining documentation and records. A high school diploma is required, with an opportunity to obtain Michigan Peer Specialist certification within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Young adult 18–26 with lived experience of mental illness/substance use disorders who received services as a youth.
• Must obtain Michigan State-approved Peer Specialist certification within 1 year of employment.
• Experience engaging with youth and families and communicating effectively with a treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Act as a support and resource for youth with SED in homes, schools and community.
• Work 1 on 1 with youth to help achieve treatment plan goals and improve functioning.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner and maintain accurate records.
