Job summary

Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority seeks a Youth Peer Support Specialist to assist youth and young adults (ages 14-22) in pursuing independence and community participation. The role emphasizes recovery, lived experience sharing, and person-centered planning within a trauma-informed framework.

You will work under a Mental Health Supervisor, engaging in team planning, training, and liaison activities to promote hope, self-advocacy, and meaningful opportunities in education,

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred.
• Experience: Lived experience in SED/SMI treatment and collaboration with multiple agencies.
• Licenses: Valid Michigan driver's license; CYPSS certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Youth Peer Support is a peer-delivered service for youth and young adults with SED/SMI.
• Promote hope, acceptance and self-advocacy by sharing lived experience.
• Attend team meetings and collaborate on TAY planning and service delivery.
• Provide education and navigation to resources to improve personal effectiveness, community life, employment and education.
• Coordinate with case managers and SCCMHA staff to implement person-centered plans.
