Job summary

Boys Town is seeking a registered nurse to oversee youth health and wellness, administer medications, manage infection control, and coordinate emergency medical care. The role emphasizes collaboration with the treatment team and adherence to the Psychoeducational Model (PEM) of treatment.

The nurse will participate in admissions, document medical orders, and maintain staff communications, ensuring safety and quality in youth care settings.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current state license.
• CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• PEM/ Psycho Educational Model training to be obtained during pre-service.
• Minimum 20 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Implements daily nursing care routines including medication administration and education for youth and families.
• Oversees health by infection control, schedules medical appointments, and assists with physician rounds.
• Provides medical and mental health emergency care while informing physicians and staff of events.
• Participates in admission by conducting mental/physical assessments and orienting youth and guardians.
• Documents medical orders and assessments per program guidelines.
• Demonstrates competency in special treatment procedures under supervision.
• Maintains professionalism and effective communication within the team.
• Assists Shift Supervisor with supervisory/administrative duties.
• Provides patient care and education tailored to youth populations.
