Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is seeking a Visual Arts Program Manager to lead and continuously improve the organization’s arts programming for youth aged 6-18. You will oversee developmentally appropriate arts experiences, ensure safety and inclusivity, and guide staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality programming across visual, performing, culinary, and literary arts.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Direct experience developing and delivering arts programs for youth.
• Knowledge of trends in arts programming, techniques and theory, and utilization of technology in the arts fields.
• Must be or become CPR and First Aid certified.
• Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and web-based systems.
• Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work club hours especially as seasons and service needs change.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and continuous improvement of diverse, high-quality arts programming reflecting BGCB youth development philosophy.
• Facilitate direct program delivery and create developmentally appropriate learning experiences for members ages 6-18.
• Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive environment with positive behavior management and youth-centered practices.
• Monitor program quality against BGCB standards and assess engagement/outcomes to inform enhancements.
• Participate in data-driven practice through organizational assessment and member feedback.
• Foster collaborative partnerships across clubs, schools, and community organizations to expand opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with volunteers, teaching artists, consultants, and partners.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to staff and volunteers; conduct evaluations and ongoing feedback.
• Manage onboarding, training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility through budgeting and resource stewardship.
• Engage in professional development and cross-functional collaboration; travel between sites as needed.
