Creative Action in Austin, TX is seeking a Teaching Artist to lead OST and summer programs for elementary youth, guiding lessons, activities, and project-based learning with a focus on social justice and leadership.

You will supervise a cohort of 15–20 students, coordinate with site staff, ensure safety and documentation, travel between program sites, and participate in Friday trainings and community showcases, bringing a collaborative, can-do spirit to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to program sites.
  • Clearance/background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR & First-Aid certification prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a classroom of 15–20 students, including lessons, snack time, outdoor play and transitions.
  • Develop daily and semester-long lesson plans aligned with Creative Action pedagogy.
  • Use positive behavior strategies to ensure student safety and sense of community.
  • Maintain site procedures and high expectations in collaboration with Site Coordinators.
  • Maintain safety and comply with Health & Human Services standards.
  • Ensure timely communication, sign-in/out procedures, and on-site paperwork.
  • Maintain a consistent attendance record to support student stability.
  • Travel to and report hours worked across program sites.
