Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead energizing classes, welcome diverse participants, and promote healthy habits. You will adapt sessions to varied health levels and maintain a positive, inclusive environment in Oak Square YMCA.

The role requires at least 1 year of group exercise experience, a current NCCA-accredited certification, CPR/AED/First Aid, and a willingness to stay current with wellness trends.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in Group Exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• Current certification if teaching a specific format (Yoga, Spin, Body Pump, Body Combat).
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Knowledge of marketing/events is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe and educational group classes as directed by supervisor.
• Answer questions from participants to support goals in health and well‑being.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness trends through YUSA courses and external training.
• Build authentic relationships with members and connect them to the YMCA.
• Observe and adjust to meet participants’ abilities, health and culture.
• Celebrate participant achievements related to program or personal goals.
• Keep accurate class attendance records in MotionVibe.
• Follow YMCA policies and respond to emergencies.
• Resolve member issues professionally and in line with YMCA values.
