Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston in Waltham is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead diverse, safe fitness classes and build community among members. You will adapt sessions for varied abilities, track attendance with MotionVibe, and collaborate with Health & Wellness staff to support member goals.

Applicants must hold a current NCCA-accredited certification (ACE/AFAA/NASM/NSCA/ISSA) and have at least 1 year of group exercise experience; specific-format certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in Group Exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification required; current certification for specific formats (Yoga, Spin, Body Pump/Body Combat) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe group classes as directed by supervisor.
• Responds to participant questions and supports goal achievement.
• Maintains wellness knowledge through YUSA courses and external training.
• Builds relationships with members and helps connect them to YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts to participants’ needs and cultural considerations.
• Celebrates participant achievements and health improvements.
• Keeps accurate class attendance in MotionVibe.
• Follows YMCA policies and responds to emergencies.
• Resolves member issues professionally per YMCA values.
