Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging, inclusive group classes at the Charles River YMCA. You will foster a welcoming environment, adapt sessions for varied abilities, and ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.

Responsibilities include teaching a range of formats, maintaining attendance records in MotionVibe, and collaborating with Wellness staff to promote healthy habits within the community.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a group exercise setting.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally certifying body (NCCA accredited preferred).
• If teaching a specific format, current certification required (e.g., Yoga, Spin, Body Pump).
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Understanding of internal and external marketing/special events.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational group classes for members and guests.
• Answer questions to support members in achieving health goals.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness trends through courses/trainings.
• Build authentic relationships with members and connect participants with the YMCA.
• Adapt classes for varied health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Keep accurate class attendance using MotionVibe and follow YMCA policies.
