Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead high-energy classes that motivate members to improve their health and confidence. You’ll create an inclusive, welcoming environment and guide participants of all fitness levels through safe, engaging workouts.

Responsibilities include arriving early, maintaining a clean space, and upholding YMCA safety procedures while attending trainings. This role offers opportunities for growth within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification or the ability to obtain one.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification before employment.
• Passion for health, wellness, and helping others succeed.
• Strong communication and motivational skills.
• Ability to lead safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes.
• Commitment to YMCA's mission and core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for participants of all fitness levels.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages members to reach their wellness goals.
• Motivate, educate, and support participants throughout each class.
• Arrive early to set up equipment and greet members before class begins.
• Build positive relationships with members and help connect them to the YMCA community.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness space.
• Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings while maintaining required certifications.
