Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Group Leader for School Age Child Care at the KIPP DC sites in Washington, DC. The role supports afterschool programs with supervision, enriching activities, and family communication.

Part-time position with morning and after-school hours, Monday through Friday during the school year. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain it. Competitive benefits include a free Y membership and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
• Maintain communication with families and program staff.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
